Walls
“A lack of ‘why’ invites attack,
Resources high or when you lack
Is when it comes, not in between” –
Ain’t that the darndest thing you’ve seen?“For when your why is low they sense
You’re vulnerable to them, and hence,
They mount their raid on your resource
Swoop in and seize without remorse.“Without a ‘why’ you’ll not defend;
You’ll walk away – not break, but bend;
And they all know that easy street’s
An easy target they will meet.“And family – the drive to care,
Provision and defend, repair,
Is never big enough a why
To be a hill on which to die.“So folks use walls to deal with that;
Eternal size of ‘why’ they lack,
So others sense, ‘Good time to raid’;
On weaknesses such plans are made”What was the ‘why’ which drove me on?
What is the ‘why’ for which I long?
What is the ‘why’ You have for me,
O Lord of the land, and sky, and sea?Why did You choose to go that way?
To die for us Passover day?
Why their attack – what sensed in You
Which led to their mistaken view?I don’t see ‘what’; I don’t see ‘why’;
I import those – quite blind am I
To input of perceiver types,
But learning there equips my fight.What comes to mind – back at the lake,
“What is one thing God did not make?”
A game we played up on the cliff ,
“Why, walls and fences – you’d not missed –(With leading questions, I’ll admit),
Such structures in the scene don’t fit,
But needed are when we’re not grown,
Like younger bro who’d not have known –That edge of cliff’s not very safe;
Once he’d grown up his wisdom takes
The place of walls and fences hence,
The landscape’s clear of walls and fence.But this is good – about the ‘why’
When lacking it, we will not die
But walk away, abandon ship –
‘Who cares?’ We ask for lack of it.navigation
