Corporate Life Today (Romans 7:24-25)

Our business life more complex is
Today than in Paul’s day;
He’s sewed some tents, with others worked,
And thus he paid his way.

Now we’ve a corporate structure made,
Extension of our self;
Still no one rushes in to save
When a loss depletes our wealth.

And, “wretchedness” – that’s still the same
When we can’t move our goods
Or services, as in Paul’s day
That much is understood.

“Ideals” don’t get far down the road
Or would-a, should-a, could;
Talk’s cheap when those outside look on,
Where is the help that’s good?

Sure – there’s two sets of laws in fact,
(For “law” is based on word
For “food prescribed or handed out”,
Like diet that is heard).

One set of laws (or diet fare)
Serves sin and death – that’s base;
The other puts gas in the tank,
More Spirit-filled’s the case.

Be careful which you eat, my friend
(You are what you digest);
The law of sin and death looks good,
But Spirit I’d suggest.

Extensions of ourselves, though fake,
Are part of business life;
God rushes in to save each one,
Extensions follow life –

So, look into a mirrored glass
And take a look at self;
Make changes in what’s mirrored there
To see more corporate health.

You’ll one or other serve as slave,
In bondage you will be;
But bondage to the Spirit-life
Is route to being free.

For yoke is easy, burden light,
When with God’s Spirit bound,
For He desires abundant life
For us and all around.
