“Why Doesn’t This Work?”
I’m in a land of hopelessness,
Along with folks whose restlessness
Is quite appalling, I must say,
But somehow, we must find our way.What say You, Jesus, Holy Ghost,
And Father-God, Angelic Host,
I don’t know how to help these folks
Whose life ’round here is sickest joke.“You’re sidelined, Stu, just like they are,
So center up, and you’ll go far;
No lottery, no quickie fix,
Is going to help one little bit.“So, hunker down, we’re going to land –
Anne’s Acres – there upon the sand;
Just walk them out, for you know how;
The problem is, you’re not allowed.“You’re not allowed into their space,
Nor are the ‘others’ – in this case,
Non-whites of any cultured shtick
That’s different from the rest, ‘so stick –“ ‘It in the place the sun don’t shine’,
Is what they say to sons of Mine;
But I ask, ‘Do you want to sit
There crying, desperate, in that ditch?’”“For I push people from the ditch;
I’ve done it lots, I’m good at it;
If they want out, I’ll show you how,
There, where lost boys are not allowed –“To circumvent their local rules;
But, what the heck, they are not fools;
It’s possible to win the day
If folks would simply walk a-way.“You’ve got to want to learn the ropes,
But they can do it – live their hopes;
Let fears drop back to Angel dust,
And seize their day – work dawn ’till dusk.”Okay Holy Spirit thanks for this.
