“The Ups And Downs Of Springtime”
I wonder if they call it spring
Because of ups and downs it brings;
Like bouncing on the bed as kids,
Its highs and lows each cobweb rids.For winter has its lows all right,
And summer highs are out of sight;
But spring and fall quite swingy are
When one is gone but door’s ajar.The optimistic stance in life
Is planting out (and mostly right);
But pessimists get licks in too –
We finer points at this time lose.So gross designs, big picture types,
Can flourish in transitions – right
Before new seasons settle down,
They’ve got established next time ’round.So, Holy Spirit, what I hear
Is, “Live your season, do not fear
What’s up ahead (stability),
But flex your flex-ability.”The picture now which comes to mind
Is trampoline at college time –
A harness ’round my waist was fixed
For safety, as I’ve learned new tricks.For learning is transition time –
There’s ups and downs – not summertime,
Nor winter of our discontent –
Transitions, highs and lows are meant –To show “potential with a past”;
It’s not a season which will last,
But it’s a thrilling time in life
To stretch, reach out, and get things right.Okay Holy Spirit thanks for that.
