“Things Fall apart”

Things do collapse and fall apart –
Appliances (which got their start
About the same time, ten years out,
Now fall apart) – I look about –

And see things crumble to a heap;
The landfill site is ten feet deep
Just from the junk we’ve landed there
Though quite a run it’s been – compared –

To what folks had in poorer climes
Who had more down-and-outage times;
For them, things fall apart as well,
As that wee book from Afric spelled –

Out for us – and we saw first-hand
Up in the north, where frozen land
Gave up its wealth of minerals,
And elders would old stories tell.

But for my part, tectonic plates
Give larger scope to what takes place,
As all this wonder-world that’s ours
Gets folded under – quite bizarre!

“It’s been a good run”, we’ll then say,
As we spin yarns about these days;
Perhaps on some celestial moon
As we look back on “leaving room”.

Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
