“Our Fathers’ War”

O Holy Spirit, that’s the place
My father fought; but in my case
It holds no challenge for me now;
Just bitterness of past – and how –

I sought to get away from there,
Like Carol and Bunclody – fair
Enough – but why, of all the world,
Would we go there to flag unfurl?

We need Your re-solution, Lord;
You know our pasts, our prayers you’ve heard;
Lead us to place where we might see
Your will for us, that we might be –

Your “people that on earth do dwell”
Amidst some slice of living hell,
Where You can work through both our lives;
And we, as one, in You might thrive.

Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
