“This Country Girl Turned Urban”
There’s a doctor I encountered who grew up just north of here,
Moved to Winnipeg, took training, worked in clinic I hold dear;
We met in the midst of chaos – cancer, shingles in the eye;
She gave care and full attention; through it all I did not die.Saved my vision, kept to minimum the damage I sustained;
Most of all, she gave me sustenance when medics were a pain;
Let me know she heard my troubles, but kept focus on the path
I must take if I were going to see a future hope at last.There were many folks who stepped up to the challenges I faced –
Simple boys and girls who saw their roles, and set a steady pace;
Drawing from their training, insight, ways they’d come to know and trust,
Guiding me through times of darkness, chaos, fear, and needless fuss.Thank You Holy Spirit, Father, Jesus Christ, for leading me,
With such workers of Your miracles, providers of Your peace;
May such gifts of trained-up competence, provided through Your folk,
Show the path to brighter future in the life which they awoke.Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
