“The Hope That Works” [Stephie Perez Series]
A mentor she, who plies her trade with me
As I succumb to island, gradually
She’s good, of course, at mentor-shipping task
As hope she plies in Bunyan’s sea, so vast.How robust is her island in the sea?
Will it collapse when it’s applied to me?
Faith, hope, love, below nice life that’s seen,
Abides to end of life through mean and mean.How fragile life is for the most of us;
We stride through life as if it were robust;
No way it is – just push some, here and there,
You’ll press right through to base-line of despair.The “flickering flame”, or “smouldering wick” You said,
Best deal with lightly, as, when we are led
Into some place where life, encountered thus,
Quite fragile seems, in face of blokes like us.So I find her – amazing specimen
Of human form, into our lives she came
With words of life – it’s horizontal line
Backed by her faith, rich vertical sublime.“So, do the work! Idea’s nice, and all,
But without work, your project here will stall,
Then die on vine – not good at harvest time,
As food for folks, so strive to cross that line.“I’ll show not tell, my words are actions, see?
Do what I do if you’d successful be;
To get to here, move through each stepping-stone
And you’ll succeed, arrive in triumph – home.”So says that woman to her tiny flock
Of hopeful folks who learned from her to walk
Out of despair from love, to hope, to faith,
’Till comes the dawn, and life anew awakes.Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
