The Skulker’s Hell” (Acts 5:12-42; especially 5:12-16)

So no-one joined those gathered there’
For fear (Luke used the term of “dare”);
How true for folks of social bent,
But faith escapes as testament –

To longings of our hearts each day –
Folks brought their relatives and laid
Them at the curbside, not for touch
Of healing – just a shadow – such –

That if authorities complained,
Their presence might then be explained –
“Coincidence”, might get them off
“Engaging-charge”, where Peter walked.

O Holy Spirit I see well,
That days of social-suasion's hell
Gives rise to such – so word to me
Today, is “open eyes to see! –

“For there are poor and needy folks
Who long for Jubilee, and jokes
To flow once more, as pain recedes,
And normal life once more proceeds.”

O Holy Spirit, in this day
Of work ahead, lay out the way
You wish me to walk into light,
As sun arises, making bright –

Our Western world, as East grows dark,
With challenges, as we embark
On deeds of “daring-do” forthwith,
In little barks, or grander ships.

Lord, “business” quite a challenge is
To me; rewarding too, for biz
Is built to help mankind excel,
Not quiet skulk in living hell.

Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
