“The Talmud And The Mishnah” / “In My Father’s House Are Many Rooms” [Reflections on Bab. Talmud:Rodkinson; Mishna Translation - Darby - Intro (series)]

Good Friday morning is right now,
The time I got my letter
Advising me to hit the road
(With later times no better).

I could not face another round
Of silly “Christian” chatter,
So stayed at home and Intro read
By Danby – of disaster –

Endured by Jews at “Christian” hands –
Destruction of all writings,
While killing off medieval Jews,
And hatred thus inciting.

So very few intact remain
Of Mishnah from such trouble;
One Talmud (Babylonian)
Survived within such rubble.

What is with us, O Father-God
That we such antics foster?
Can we not live Your Christ’s advice
Foregoing such disaster?

If You, O Jesus, wanted us
To hear the Jewish treasure,
Experience it as salt and light
And leaven without measure –

I see what You had on Your mind –
You saw our need for loving;
Without it, this is what folks do,
In world of push and shoving.

O Holy Spirit I’m so pumped
To start this complex reading,
Of these three books of blessed words,
And following Your leading.

Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
