“Of Islands In The Sea” (Reflection on 10 Commandments and Apostolic Ministry)

Ten hockey boards on frozen pond
Is well and good – we skate thereon;
But what about in milder climes,
Or climate change in modern times?

Well, maybe “coast-lands of a shore” –
Ten types on isle, might serve us more;
It serves a purpose similar,
While being more familiar.

The ocean’s vast, so pick your isle
On which to operate a while;
For “faster, tighter, game to play”
Both boundary markers give a way.

We need some context quite defined
To play within, on pond or brine;
For we are small, the ocean’s vast,
It gives us space to work as asked.

The boards gets set up anywhere
On frozen Lake – which well compares
To using isles beneath the sun,
That tighter, faster, work be done.

Place island work-space anywhere;
The point’s avoiding great despair
At ocean’s call to dissipate
One’s energy – like skates on lake.

On ice the boards confine the game;
The island’s shores do much the same;
So make a plan and work your plan,
Midst surf and sun, on island’s land.

Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
