“No Quick-Fix Task” (Exodus chapter 12:9, 46;) (Reflections on Bab. Talmud:Rodkinson - Shabbat chapter 1)

I’m fascinated – quick aside
In chapter one re-Easter-Tide
Well, “Passover” (initial form),
Which Christians called “Good Friday” morn.

Don’t speed up cook-time with a knife
Or hammer blows (break bones) – not a right;
Which we encounter in our text
Of Christ on cross how all are blessed –

By Jesus’ death no need to break
His legs to speed his death and take
His means of gaining final breaths
(The fate of other two) – though test –

Of spear in side of corps was made
Insured he died, before they laid
Him in the tomb and rolled the stone
O’er opening – ’till Easter morn.

So that’s where this part comes for us!
I had not known that so much fuss
Was made to prep the Paschal Lamb
For Seder supper – now I can –

See in our case it speaks to speed –
“No instant Jesus” meets our need;
He died – point was not speed, or how,
But life laid down – which then allowed –

The Jewish treasure-chest of life
To export bring from them to light;
I hear – “It’s time to export, now
To Gentile nations’ night, somehow”.

I see Christ stepping into the breach
Between those cultures – He would teach,
But ground-up be where boundaries lie;
Long game? It’s time that Gentile rise –

To higher life Jews ascertain;
Cut cultures’ grinding; for the same
Salt, light, leaven in our lives
Would help our cultures also thrive.

The problem’s not that Jews saw light,
But Gentile ways gave rise to fights
As way of life for all mankind –
So hated Jews most of the time.

Christ’s “Judaism lite” pared down
Their cultures’ ways – to spread around
As salt, and leaven, light – as ways
To bless all cultures as He says.

Indeed, no “Fast food Jesus” here;
No instant Seder – that part’s clear;
For crossing of Red Sea was start
Of forty desert-years – just part –

Of two millennia ’till Christ
Two more since then – it’s still not right!
The speed of Seder-preps reflects
Long time to Jubilee effect.

Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
