“This Urban Beach”

What of this day that’s given to us,
At stage of life when things get tough?
Have we a clue how we might live
Here, by these shores that we might to give –

Some input to its life henceforth,
Part of community, of course,
But differently than what appears
To us from outside-view of peers?

O Holy Spirit, on this day
Of rest You gave us – rest and play
Is hard for me to do in You;
So what’s the part which we might do?

“Stu, celebrate the life I’ve given
To you, don’t just by life be driven;
Kick back, enjoy, participate
In life – use beaches by the lake.

“I gave them, that they play that role –
Of R and R – so don’t be droll,
But enter in, engage, and thrill
To be a part of pond and hill.

It may not be the best right now,
But that’s it’s a role for you – allow
Your life to be refreshed, renewed,
Today, in all you say and do.”

O Holy Spirit, thanks for this;
As we move on, this day, I wish
I’d made a way to do my life
More paced, and rested ’midst the strife.

But here, I have “Today” – Your gift
Of life to help our spirits lift;
Teach us your ways, to feel relief
Here with Your gift of urban beach.

Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
