“Bad Education”

I watched this movie flying back,
’Bout school, and mix of folks – and that
Was good part of that yarn I’d say –
Both sides of good and bad at play.

For we are quite a mix, though we
Prefer that good in us folks see,
And not the bad – that’s for the rest –
We’re good; you’re bad – we’re all obsessed –

With this cute fable of our lives;
It’s how we cope as husbands, wives,
And children since the dawn of man –
A game we play, oft as we can.

Our lives are gray, not black and white,
Though such extremes inform each life;
That book about how to forgive
Said “Peace as gray” is how to live.

“The black and white are more for war –
I’m white; you’re black – helps settle scores
With violence – but that’s no way
To live at peace – that’s more with gray”.

For we’re a mix, we know it well;
Sometimes the darker side means hell
On earth for those who mix and match
The simple life with complex tasks.

So with the film set in the South –
A mix of characters who mouth
The common lines of simple life
Mix with complexities – hence strife.

Lord, as I carry on this week,
Discern more details, help me speak
Into my life, not just outside
My sphere of life – in me abide.

Thanks Holy Spirit for this.
