Organization of Production Approaches to High Tech Local Economic Development
Local Economic Development in the High Tech Sector areas can take place when attention is paid to Production Organization, and downturns could be avoided if attention was paid to negative aspects which are often left to develop unchecked within companies. Some of the aspects which have been noted in this area are:
- labor procedures tend to ossify over time and new startup industries tend to move elsewhere to get away from such a restrictive atmosphere and start over. This is an unnecessary loss to a region (but good news to the new area).
- Businesses tend to shift the uncertainties of employment and look for areas of non-unionized workers, often to their detriment, and fail to address the long term needs of upper level staff, thereby inviting unnecessary work insecurity and disruptions.
Some people have noted that the work world of high tech has moved into niche marketing and just in time production, moving their businesses into agglomerations and locating near air transport facilities.
