“Who We Are” [Series of Reflections on David du Chemin’s Book The Soul Of The Camera - pp. 172-179]

The question, “Who are you?” Quite open-ended is;
In Spanish, “ser”, “estar” make complicated biz
Of what for us is plain – in any way you choose,
Reveal to us the truth, and give at least some clues.

“Authentic” label’s used where art work is at home,
To speak of “author’s” work, “authoritative” tome;
For in such work we get some “authenticity”;
Where deep speaks unto deep – we free reality.

Self-Revelation is in art – what authors do;
We can’t escape that fact, it bridges me with you;
“A book is a machine, in which the reader thinks”;
So too in photo-art which slips through armor’s chinks.

“Exploratory art” (for us all art is this),
Reveals are deeper selves, which often we can miss;
But other viewers see our blindsides and our lives,
We grow-up through the dust and smoke of sunset skies.

“God-breathed” all art can be, as we abide in Him;
The Kingdom-layered life is where we can begin –
Our center-point is still, like pinwheel’s central pin,
From whence we make our art – in Him it all begins.

Thanks Lord for this.
