“A Chosen People” [Kingdom passages continued] (1st Peter 2:4-11)
Discernment of spirits means way is blown,
That others can live in God’s way that’s known,
And shared with all people – “What’s keeping you
From life on the Kingdom-layer made for you?“For Jesus said, ‘Go call my people in;
Invite to the banquet – let feast begin;
Right now they are lost on some lonely cliff,
Go fetch them and let them partake of this.“My priesthood’s for all – bridging man and God;
Such first introductions there on the sod
Are Jubilee-moments for all concerned;
Their place on the Kingdom-layer waits, unearned.”Lord, fanned out across all the world today,
In globalized-village where people play,
I’m glad You’ve invited us to Your task –
So others find peace when in time there asked.So yes, we declare Jesus work for us,
In calling from darkness and endless muss
Up onto his layer of Kingdom-light;
Released from the darkness of endless night.Lord, that is a role I can under-stand;
A task in You Jesus – to lend a hand
In bringing together for life-in-You
World’s people now trapped – giving work to do.For idleness presses us to the earth;
Engagement’s enabled by second-birth;
Lord, thanks for this chance to start life in You,
Then work of the Kingdom as task renewed.Thanks Lord for this.
