“He Laughed”
He laughed and asked, “You hear your words?!”
Then spelled it out – I understood –
Who else who’s pushing decades seven
Is thinking salt, and light, and leaven –And how one might best use the time
Ahead? Six double-years are mine,
Of seven double-years He gave;
How blessed I am the best’s been saved –For last – but then I thought once more –
God gave one hundred twenty, for
Our lives – so we should steward them,
Not blow them off – rise up and tame –Each challenge faced as decades pass,
Until we’re done, go home at last;
I’m only now past half-way point;
How blessed we are – for He anoints –Each decade’s ways – ’till now a trail;
Now Meadowland – bids me prevail
Within this patch of woodland flower;
“Enrich it now – each passing hour.”’Till now I had no time to tend
The flower patch – I’d forward bend
Until He brought me here and showed
Me stillness now, His peace to know.What challenges this place affords!
On Kingdom-layer; no glance towards
The path traversing this fair spot;
A wayside-place where folks can stop –As they move on to find their land,
Learn of such stillness – understand
They too will come someday to this –
Some Meadowland, by heaven kissed.Thanks Lord for this.
