“A State Of Mind” [Reflections On Book  The Canadian Economy Series  B-8 – Regional Equalization]

A state of mind it is, I say!
Few entrepreneurs live out this way” –
He claims it’s in an outlook “old”,
Quite shocked I am now I’ve been told.

Skills, energy, and outlook can
Use ways and means to boost a man
Or woman (’cause exceptions reign;
Some civil servants are pain –

For they live here, affected are
With pessimistic view, by Gar) –
But hey, make haste in other ways;
Perhaps we’ll see some better days.

One fifth of Nova Scotia’s cash
Was equalized from others’ stash;
It’s all for one, and one for all –
Pick others up when sectors fall.

The economic theory says
That balance comes, employer pays
Folks less, so others come there too,
Except that seldom what they do.

“Incentives” bring a second look
(Due diligence is all it took
To find key factors for your biz;
But hey, the cash a bonus is!)

The young (fifteen to twenty-five),
Can move with jobs – with moves they thrive;
Participants (from fifteen years
To sixty-four) are mixed, that’s clear.

A spiral goes both ways, of course,
The booms are nice, the busts are worse
But it’s a head-game – goodwill to –
Now picture forms – so here’s to you!

Thanks Lord for this.
