"Deepest Hunger Met" [Reflections On Book  Powerlines  by Leona Frances Choy - Chapter 21 - Hudson Taylor, #8/25] (Matt. 11:28-30; 22:1-14; John Chap. 6; Lk.1:53;)

I have this game I use with folks
Spun from the “Wish-List” (butt of jokes),
It’s called, or nicknamed, “Hunger List” –
Imperatives we can’t resist.

I use it as a faster way
To bring about that joyful day
Where men and women hit the wall –
Discover they can’t win at all –

Think – have you ever hungry been?
In social life is hunger seen?
In body? Or emotion’s field?
In intellect are pangs revealed?

Or maybe in material,
Where cash is king – ethereal
Is life when it comes down to cash,
Which flows so quickly, drains your stash.

Or maybe hunger shows its face
In spirit – as in Taylor’s case;
He had the faith for cash – he raised
It giver-style – was seldom phased.

But inner-life? He was a wreck –
‘Capitulate’ best he could get;
That matters not – for Spirit gets
His base in us – does not forget.

He does not raise the hunger scene
Except in sectors where Christ’s lean,
For Christ will answer deepest need
In areas where we must feed.

“I am the bread of life”, Christ said,
“Draw life from me or you’ll be dead –
Yes, walking ’round, you’ll look alive,
But deep within you will not thrive.”

A business or a ministry
Is like a “dojo” – enemy
Is not “out there”, but deep inside,
In areas where hungers hide.

So power comes when we are dead
To self, as in the Book we read –
Die to yourself; climb on your cross,
For life flows out when self is lost.

The breakthrough comes for each in life
In ways designed for us – for light
Pours into us where we are weak,
Where Christ within takes Kingdom’s seat.

Our photographs reveal our hearts –
When Spirit flows, or gets its start,
It pours out through our pictured ways,
Revealing Christ through endless days –

Or not – for one who’s on the throne
Cannot be hid – we’re not our own,
But rather to some Lord belong,
As seen in artwork, drama, song.

For those with eyes to see soon see
If King of life for us is “me”;
They know – they’ve been there – options know –
Each made some choice which way they’d go.

For we all wanted cake to eat
And have as well – such would be sweet;
“So maybe you’ll find way to go
And if you do – please let me know”.

Our hunger deep within will tell
Our friends and neighbors – “Living hell
Is what’s beneath in sector-six,
Or three, or five – which I want fixed.”

Then comes the day our thirst is quenched –
Our hunger pangs, for years which wrenched
Us into choices, ways, and means,
All second rate, are gone, it seems.

And then we get it – they’re still there –
But need’s addressed outside our care;
Christ comes to live His life within
And does such tasks – frees us from sin.

For some it is emotional;
For some more economical;
In intellect; work-context tight;
Or socially things now go right.

For some it’s deeply spiritual;
For others body’s miracle;
For all it is in hunger’s sphere –
Christ’s life within brings banquet near.

Thanks Lord for this.
