"Graphic Arts Time Management"

There’s ragged time, and time clipped off
At hour’s end – some people scoff,
But clipping time as billable,
Makes bank account quite fill-able.

Each lawyer, doctor, on the block
Clips visits, fragments of their walk
Of daily life – time’s billable –
Plugs in, sees days as fill-able.

So “Time is money” to such folks,
With cost per hour the butt of jokes;
When on vacation they don’t count
The time they spend – for no amount –

Of reckoning can raise a cent
Of extra cash, as once time is spent;
So ragged-time of sleeping in
’Till one awakes, is viewed like sin.

To ministry and counseling,
The country farmer insight brings
Into the tangled lives of folks –
For time’s kept ragged – lawyer’s joke.

No, not for ordinary shtick,
But when the folks are really sick,
Or twisted by some hurricane –
When incidents leave living lame.

It takes a while to ferret out
Burrs under saddles; nagging doubt;
Roles set from birth; ill-fitting garb;
Effects from some forgotten barb.

So best it is to free-fall, flow
With lives which come to you, to know
Which way is up; which road to take;
Should they persist, or hesitate?

For in the end success will come
Sooner, of course (to me, less fun)
If all is simple, long-work done –
Just blow the snag and let them run.

Big puzzles no-one else has fixed,
Remain for me best challenge – twixt
Two entities or three sometimes
A person’s caught – effect’s sublime –

When freed at last like whale in net –
They swim away, wave flippers – yet
“Free Willy” has a longer pix –
New nets await; new traps to fix.

Lord, I am used to ragged time;
It works for me – low use for lines;
Which carries into graphics work –
“So, buffers use – do life in spurts”.

Thanks Lord for this.
