"Don't Make A Shrine" [Reflections on Book - Right Side Up Side Down Connie Bischoff and Romeo Lemieux - re: Kepsake] (Matt. 6:19-34)

Don’t make a shrine of yesteryear
In moments when transition’s here,
For that turns living into dead;
A keepsake, yes, as we have read –

But I recall that deed was done
Down at the island, by a son –
No changes made; no movement on;
A shrine encased a life now gone.

Oh yes, they lived their lives around
The shrine, but something owned the ground –
A spirit of a life now past;
Transitions made that turned to cash –

I thought absurd, but now I see
That life enshrined just cannot be;
What was enabled by such cash –
The life, passed on, now grown so vast –

That I can’t fathom heaven’s vaults;
Of course there’s errors, goofs, and faults,
But nonetheless, compared to shrine,
Such cash enabled life sublime.

Thanks Lord for this.
