"Gospel In And Through " (I Sam.3:1-4:1) [Northern Kingdom - Time Insights Series #4

Young Samuel heard a word from God
And thought his vision rather odd
That Eli called out in the night,
But didn’t – caused a bit of fright.

“Speak Lord, I listen” he then said
Next time he heard it in his bed;
“I’m going to hit old Eli’s house,
Because of being such a louse”.

From then on Samuel knew the Lord;
It was through him the “Kingdom” word
Split up, with switchback up the hill,
The route that nation took – but still –

God said to Solomon and Kings,
My Kingdom’s what the action brings,
So stay in it, all will be well,
And people too – things will go swell.

“For in and through My word you need
To live – not under – no, indeed,
For life to work – I’ve Kingdom-layer
Where you can stand for life of prayer”.

So Samuel grew, like Jesus did –
Matured in God, blew off the lid
Of S.O.P. (convention’s way)
Of being Prophet in his day.

If God expects us to grow up
Into our roles in Him, though tough,
It’s doable, and worth the cost
Of everything becoming lost.

For me, “Be as my mouth” God said
To Jeremiah – which I read
That day this town came crashing down
On me – I ceased to be around.

It’s in the books, accounts and tax
The income statements, pix of past
Embedded in those hieroglyphs
He means for me to dig and sift.

Then like old Samuel, blow the lid –
Discern the Spirit which is hid
Between the lines – five thousand still
Don’t bend their knees at satan’s swill.

“So Stu, you’ve grown up to this task;
Been given wisdom which you asked
To have, that you could rupture fix,
There in that cultured-land that’s mixed.

Now dig into that bag of tricks
And learn, and grow, then problem fix –
Not you, of course – do this and that –
Your way to satisfaction’s cat –

“Live in and through not under law,
Get in, push through, don’t balk at raw
Life found out there – a mighty mess –
Just boldly press to find success.

Thanks Lord for this.
