“Now That This Day Has Dawned”

I may not have tomorrow,
But seems I have today”;
I swirled around the present
And future yesterday;
I thought I might go writing
A song or two last night,
But second-thoughts came to me –
It somehow wasn’t right.

I read of Nappy’s battle –
Such mess there’s seldom been –
Three miles of bloodied bodies,
Three deep, blood flowed it seems;
Well-written with good pictures,
Dipped in to get the flow;
But when I checked the book out,
Was not where I should go.

I contemplated future
In context of the past;
It seemed to be the factor
Which triggered – seen at last –
My tool-set to be fashioned
In many splendored ways,
Like tools to keep my shirt on
When trouble comes to play.

Lord, thanks for each day ending
As nightfall comes at last;
Thanks for each night of sleeping
’till dawn and breaking fast;
Be with us in this journey
Of sun throughout the sky;
Calm fears and anxious moments,
When we lose sight of “Why”.

Lord, tools for living calm me,
Address where I am weak;
I wish I knew the answer
To aspects which we seek –
Like how to start the body
Or enter in, at least,
Midst people of, “Go solo”
As Prophet, King, or Priest”.

Some factors have emerged now,
No doubt there’s others too;
Must we await full picture
To do what we must do?
Or can we use the portions
We’ve got here in our hands,
As we live out new ventures
On kite or layered lands?

“Stu, get into the Scripture,
Apply each part in prayer;
Three channels I am using
For life on Kingdom layer –
You’ve seen that ‘Ten Commandments’
(Upgraded in my text)
Are built for Kingdom living
In this world and the next.

“So, celebrate what’s given
For tighter, faster, game;
Don’t worry ’bout tomorrow,
Just make the layer plain;
Your piece of turf for focus
Is plain for you to see,
So in My way keep walking –
In future-present be.

“Just like back in Keewatin,
When you that question asked;
Plug-in the Scripture’s guidance
To present-future-past;
It’s all there on the pages
Of Gospel, not in Paul,
So do what is apparent,
And you’ll soon see it all.”

Lord, thank You for Your guidance;
It’s hard for me to be
Assured of future actions
In present time – to see
The seed I should be planting,
Or harvest to take in;
Help me to keep my shirt on,
And laughingly begin.

Thanks Lord for this.
