Some speak of “syntax”, “language”, “form”,
And photos “speaking” as the norm,
As if, on learning how to speak
This photo-language, life gets sweet.Some others say, “Well, not quite that –
It has no syntax – better that
We use it as a way to show
The world we see, have come to know –“And let each viewer sort things out,
Decide what this is all about;
Just make it clear, and it to the point
Let viewer’s meanings thus anoint –“Each picture with its hallowedness,
Draw from its depths some sacredness
(Or leave it to be, move on to next,
For it might speak, unlike the rest).”Thanks Lord for this.
