"Present Value "
The value of a thing to me is not its starting cost
In lives, or time, or circumstance, which now to world is lost;
But rather, present worth to all and sundry ’neath the sun,
For that is what it’s really worth, now victory’s been won.Take Nappy – it’s two hundred years today since Waterloo;
They cornered him and cleaned his clock, not much that he could do;
Establishment set out to crush the call for liberty,
Equality, fraternity – stop shift to set folks free.They won at Waterloo that day – I guess it was right now;
But in the end it was too late, a shift was made somehow –
Now Monarchy is figurehead and legacy, like church –
A vestige of a way that worked, whose rep had been besmirched.But it’s not perfect, never is – where people are involved;
We’re in a spell of peace right now – but issues are unsolved;
Hence they are legacies of when Napoleon got whupped,
For peace on earth will never come ’till mankind says “Enough!”Thanks Lord for this.
