"Team" [Module#402]  (John 14:15)

Ever been on well-oiled team
Where playing well and hard would mean
That win or lose, “Today was great!”
And for tomorrow’s game, “Can’t wait!”?

Ever had a leader who
You’d follow into hell – you’d choose
“The difficult” ’fore breakfast time;
“Impossible” by half past nine?

Ever been at camp on staff –
Long days, tough kids learn to laugh;
Singing hearts of softened steel;
Finding life and love to feel?

Ever worked at fast-food shack,
Where team pulled to stay on track –
Supper-rush piled in for food;
Fed and happy – shift was good?

Christ meant that (He leads the team) –
“Want to play? You must be keen
Throw your weight behind the task
Seize, respond, take action fast.”

Love is at the base of these;
Deeper yet – we long to seize
Challenges as part of team
Far above the mean and mean.

To me, that’s what’s meant by “Lord” –
To rise to challenge at His word;
To feel wrung out at end of day;
To be involved as way to pray.

“If you will love, you will obey”,
Christ noted in His mentored-way;
There’s no life like it, none indeed;
Of this in Gospels we now read.

Thanks Lord for this.
