"The Parting"
I knew this man, first known to me as drummer,
He kept a beat, set rhythm and a pace;
But then I saw his son take up that function,
As he stepped back, took up a different place.“For now,” he thought, “I can with accents adding
Percussive sounds enrich each melody –
We need a beat, and pace we feel is fitting,
But accent lifts our Spirits Lord, to Thee.”And so each week their family led in worship,
Mom took the lead as we approached our Lord;
One boy on keys, one girl her Martin playing,
With drums and accents, framing spoken Word.So Lord, we part, their family now dispersing;
Their leadership soon takes a different road;
We thank You, Lord, for moments our paths crossing;
Be with us now, and ease each parting load.May we someday hear sweet melodic music,
And follow sounds to source beyond the skies;
Thus may we meet, our friendships thus renewing,
Before Your throne, as songs replace these sighs.Thanks Lord for this.
