“Attitude Or Altitude” (Luke 19:3) [Module #268]
When we grow up so altitude
Is great, it’s still our attitude
Which can affect how we are seen –
As tall or short, or in between.“Big man or woman” in our land
Can be quite short – all understand
That inner size (some cannot see),
Can measure he who’s up a tree.But this wee man had attitude
Of “more for me than goes to you”,
Until one day the Kingdom came
As news to him – no more the same.For as he climbed on acetate
Of overhead projector’s plate,
He got some added altitude,
Which made for change in attitude.Until the Kingdom of our God
Comes to our lives, it will seem odd
That anyone should give away,
Not take forever and a day.Strange things flow out once altitude
Is gained – above where we once stood;
We now look down, changed point of view,
Indeed Christ makes all things renewed.Lord, thanks for this new view of life
From Kingdom-layer – it’s not so tight
A fit for all who live up there,
And less for all of life’s despair.Thanks also we can share this news,
So life with its adjusted views
Can be for all who wish a change,
Which comes when life gets rearranged.Thanks Lord for this.
