“Though He Never Performed A Miracle...”

A man through whom no “Work of Power” flowed,
Spoke oft’ of Jesus, let the people know
About his cousin, Jesus – helped them see,
Just who He was, and what in Him they’d be.

They’d be without their sin (rebellious thrust);
They’d be without their sins (for them a must);
They’d have the root of troubled souls removed;
They’d be empowered by God, be Spirit-moved.

They’d find themselves like babies newly born;
They’d find Him great (John, camel-hair had worn
And came to be an announcer of the one
Who’d take away their sin, as God’s own Son).

“No miracle he did,” they said of John,
“But everything he said about the Son
Was true enough, so let’s go seek him out,
And hear some more of what this life’s about.”

When I read that I saw first time for me,
Historic fiction could help people see
The truth about the Christ, on-ramp to Book,
In which some day perhaps they’d take a look.

If Apostolic Ministry for me
Is mediated – helping Givers see
There’s life within the body – there the Christ
Finds full expression – part does not suffice –

Then maybe I should concentrate on that;
Results I write of satisfaction’s cat –
I get one shot, for if this doesn’t work,
That’s it – so I can’t ’round your journal lurk.”

This module has a comment I should take
To heart – and shorten up the works I make;
“For people only want a bit to know –
Don’t overwhelm, or every aspect show.”

Christ Jesus, You told stories all the time;
In my case, some are novels, some are rhyme;
But you let others in to pick and choose
The parts they needed most, when most confused.

I hear there are two stages to this task
(Or three, or more) – the first, for insight ask;
Then hone it down, and concentrate the words,
That aspects for each reader might be heard.

I noted, “Here’s the start” as I looked back,
“Of aspect of this ministry I lack –
The ‘Mediated part’”, but now I see
There were some parts which had not come to be.

Lord, keep me from a path I should not take,
As I pursue this road – lest I mistake
What’s “clear” for “truth” You wish for me to see –
That in the end Your Kingdom comes to be.

Thanks Lord for this.
