“Oh! Shabbat – Sweet Relief”
No matter what our week’s been like,
With heavy burden, load quite light,
The Shabbat-rest relief brings in,
As Shabbat-candle peace begins.For me, this week, things just piled up,
Until with all I’d had enough;
In desperation tweaked the form
Back to a former schedule norm –Which had Shabbat at end of week –
Six days of work, then rest we seek;
This nonsense of “First day as rest”
Is nice, by it I have been blessed –But now? This week, depleted here,
I felt relief flood in – appear
As rising tide which lifted trash
Up from the beach on which I’d crashed.Lord, thank You for creating light
Day one – fine other days all right;
But thank You most for Shabbat rest –
For sweet relief by which I’m blessed.Thanks Lord for this.
