“Bitcoin” [Reflection On Book – Bitcoin For The Befuddled – Barski And Wilner]

A game we played as little kids at school
Was “Keep The Ball Aloft”, our group was cool;
We did it; all agreed upon the rules;
But in the end found something else to do.

The problem was, we reached the object well –
There was no point, so far as we could tell;
Nobody ran the game – we’d all agreed
Upon the rules, so boss we did not need.

That’s bitcoin in a nutshell – just some rules,
Which all agree would be a chosen tool;
Except there is incentive structured in
(Like tap the ball and pennies you would win).

Of course, the project also had a point
(A banking system – money but not joint
Which regulated things, no boss that is –
Just like the game – some rules agreed for biz).

Some guy (withheld his name) made up the game;
Some others set it rolling (none to blame);
The government shut part down fast because,
Folks used it for illicit purposes.

And then, of course, it skipped taxation base,
Until the Feds said, “Barter” was its case –
So one-off stuff for you and me – that’s fine,
But “Part of business” crosses income’s line.

And then there is the issue of the tools
Which amplify the power, players use;
Then, just like baseball bats in childhood’s game,
It grows beyond us all – no more the same.

But all in all, Satoshi’s game is cool
(His pseudo-name – but still, he was no fool);
Jump in and play around – it’s open source,
So other folks can use the thought, of course.

Lord, here’s another aspect I can see
Is way beyond my brain’s capacity
To code, or operate down at the base,
Tool-making with the concept in this case.

I get the feeling this has other use,
If one could harness concept, turn it loose;
Just like the virus plague for us today –
Could be of use, beyond malicious play.

Thanks Lord for this.
