Be Pompous And Reactive" [Fawcett #29] ( )

When German planes sought sky control
In British air, flights onward rolled;
Miscalculating home-team spunk,
Advantage dropped from air – ker-plunk.

Sea-lion’s fleet of ships and barge,
Assembled there, though still not large,
Lost ten percent, which caused delays
Of months, and years, from several days.

A German bomber lost its way,
Bombed London by mistake, and swayed
The British to hit cities, then,
The blitz diverted pressure when –

The Germans were on the brink of win,
But pompousness sought to begin
A plan to gain some public heart,
Which blitzkrieg’s pounding would impart –

From propaganda war at home;
It failed – then Russia’s time had come,
So to the Eastern front they flew,
And Britain rose with vigor new.

’Course radar played a part in that;
Zeiss lenses; Spitfires’ rat-a-tat;
And spirit raised to fury pitch
By Churchill, brought an end to it.

Lord Jesus, as we fly with You,
Partake in battles always new,
We ask Your grace to humble hearts
Before and after fighting starts.

Keep us on track as bullets fly;
Remove concerns that we might die –
“Though He might slay me”, Willie wrote,
“Yet will I trust Him – Bible note.

“Abide in me”, You called to us,
“And I in you throughout all fuss”;
“Don’t play the money, play the cards”
I’ve heard it said, though sometimes hard.

Thanks Lord for this.
