"Three Plus One"  [Module #180] (Luke 13:6-9)

“Three years it’s been and there’s no fruit,”
The Scripture man protested,
“So cut it down and burn it up,
It need not be protected.”

But now I understand this piece –
It was not from neglecting;
With careful work he’d gained release,
More than they were expecting.

“Be patient – you will see the fruit
This year, and you’ll have plenty;
No pressure there – his pirate’s loot
Was in the field now empty.

A buried treasure? No Siree,
Just ground he’d been preparing;
So too with Father’s love for me,
And Jesus’ gentle caring.

Year four is when the fruit will grow,
With work and food nutritious;
Just keep soil loose, success you’ll know,
Have apples quite delicious.

Three years it’s been since starting out,
Inspectors now come thither;
“A year ’till harvest comes about,
So there’s no need to quiver;

In principle? It’s long term view –
Fruit takes a while to ripen;
But even more when it is new,
To Scripture it is likened.

Thanks Lord for this.
