"The Publisher"  (Oct/06/14)

I’d wondered, “Where’s my signature? My imprint on this book?”
For don’t I get a grudging “Thanks”, acknowledgment? It took
A huge chunk of my life, and cash, and expertise I gained,
To get it to the place it is (career’s forever changed).

And then I saw “ISBN” – that number – there it is!
To all who understand, it is my signature – the ways
And means I used to get it out there secondary then,
Because end-product’s all that counts – it’s published in my name.

Now excellence shoots to the top, it’s different now for me,
For everything that’s in my name is there for all to see;
That part is critical to me, my craft, my output now –
The way we get it to the world will story-time allow.

That number must be readable, flow clearly back to me,
But most of all it’s excellence the reader needs to see;
And excellence means stumbling-blocks are absent in their book,
Which sets this craftsman’s standards high as I take final look.

Lord grant that as I push on through this to get this project done,
I not hang up on silly things, but hit the ground and run;
I want to make this book succeed, and press on to the end,
So it’s Your grace I need today, and ask You now to send.

Thanks Lord for this.
