"Doing While"   [Module #136] (Luke 11:9-13)

At times my life gets stalled by some
Great elephant, when day’s begun;
It seems it’s settled in my room,
And won’t be leaving very soon.

Of course I chip away at that,
But something else I do – I laugh –
For Spirit pulls me back to frame
In larger view – though still the same.

And that’s one source of humored days –
Reframing of life’s twisted ways;
I look for other things to do,
There, from that altered point of view.

Especially if it takes some time
To clear this living-room of mine
Of elephant and crap it leaves;
Ideas come while on my knees.

Like Kipling’s “If” and Frankel’s tome,
In which they recommend we roam
Around our mental space a bit,
And find some other place to sit –

And work away at something else
When others’ actions challenge self –
“Defiant be, my stalled out friend,
Keep buttoned shirt you will not mend –

“Which you can do within your space;
Give statement – ‘I’m of human race –
Acknowledged, you are in my room
And won’t be leaving very soon –

“ ‘But that’s all done in larger frame,
A rock in pail, the pail’s the same;
And notice gap here at the rim –
You don’t fill all the space you’re in.

“ ‘And that is where I live and breathe –
Not perfect, but, until you leave,
Or there’s a change in circumstance,
That’s where I choose to do my dance’ “.

Lord, thank You for these little ways;
Your gift to me to fill my days
In You, triumphant over this
Sad state – through which You increase bliss.

Thanks Lord for this.
