"Now Jesus Was Driving Out A Demon..." [Module #151] (Luke 11:14)

It’s demon-driving – Jesus work – I’d say
Is needed here, just like in Jesus’ day;
One time back when, it was the demon “rum”;
But now it’s dissipation – demon “run”.

This land and age are full of “dis” and “dat” –
Dis-able, dissipated, speak to that;
Expression one time used, to “dis” a man,
Or woman, such to make a can’t from can.

O Jesus will You drive this demon out?
We can’t sit still, we’re always out about
Some urgent errand, foolish as can be;
Such busy-ness availith naught in-deed.

I hear You say, “In me get something done”;
Not ‘Do a lot of things – be on the run’;
Relax; stand back; in Me do that or this,
And give Me room to work, remove your ‘dis’.

“For dissipation is a cursed way
To spend one’s life – on it I hear you say
‘If only I could from this way be free
Then I could show the world what’s truly me’.

“So who are you, friend Stu, at least right now?”
In Christ a man of God sent here somehow
To do an Apostolic task right here
In Giver-Land, among those near and dear.

Right now I’m overwhelmed with many things;
Am being pruned to work that Jesus brings
Into awareness as each day unfolds,
As part of body-life which God upholds.

There’s so much more for us to learn of life,
Impacted as we are by needless strife;
Lord drive this demon from our midst these days,
And help us live our lives here in Your ways.

Thanks Lord for this.
