"Three Tools In The Tool-Box"

I spoke at GKM the other day
About their memory-box – just like today
We have a photo-box here, or online,
So we’ll recall the days of Auld Lang Syne.

Three things were in their memory-box back then –
A jar of manna; tablets (lacked a pen)
Of Ten Commandments etched into a rock;
And Aaron’s rod which helped that man to walk.

Those items brought some lessons back to mind –
“Experience” in which God’s Word we find;
“The Scripture” (or a part of it) in rock –
A second way in which we hear God talk.

Then “prayer” – we need not push to make life work;
We can step back, ask God (not to go berserk),
To help us sort out tangles in our town;
Like Aaron, lay our leader-symbols down.

And that’s still true for us here in this land;
As true as in those days of desert sand –
Through “Scripture”, “prayer”, “experience” God speaks,
As we our journeys take and guidance seek.

Thanks Lord for this.
