"Ease On Back"  [Module #113] (John 8: 31-32)

Christ finishes His work in us today,
Not way too fast, which makes us want to say,
“Slow down, I’m overwhelmed, I can’t keep up”;
He seems to know when we have had enough.

Then He pulls back and lets us process that
Which feeds our souls, like satisfaction’s cat,
Until we find we’re hungry yet again,
And He moves in to ease each hunger-pang.

He’ll not withhold our food when we’re in need,
Unless we’re not quite ready for the deed –
For ’till we know there’s something that we miss,
We’ll play with food that’s put here in our dish.

Lord, sometimes we can’t hear through folks around,
Until the time is right, Your channel’s found
Who’s best for us, so we’ll be blessed indeed;
Sometimes it’s best the carrot comes as seed.

Then Lord, You use us when and where it’s best,
That someone else specific might have rest
To inner struggle of their burdened quest;
Rise up in You, face future life with zest.

Tight corners, narrow roads are often good
For us, as problem then is understood;
On broader, wider road where no pain’s felt,
We fail to see exactly what we’re dealt.

My inclination is to ease the load
Of folks around, as soon as I am told
They’re finding it’s a burden tough to bear,
But easing life’s not always way to care.

Encouragers have challenges, which face
Us every day as channels of Your grace;
Lord, clear our minds, and help us when in doubt
To ease on back, ’till sure what You’re about.

Thanks Lord for this.
