"Authenticity"  [Module # 88] (John 7:18)

You got the guts to be yourself with other people seeing?
For many folks around this town, they’ve forfeited their being;
In order to blend in, pretend to be an urban person,
And all the while quite rural are – as situation worsens.

They long to see some other one rise up and be their model;
In terms of being genuine, through life they tend to doddle;
The folks around put pressure on to leave their rural trappings,
Pretending to be who they’re not, like gift in fancy wrappings.

But underneath it’s genuine, with values somewhat wholesome,
While urban way of life to them is actually quite loathsome;
If you’re outside your culture base (a TCK, whatever),
You’ll tumble like a tumbleweed in prairie’s stormy weather.

Don’t live a lie; be who you are; find voice which is authentic;
Both live and speak the truth that’s yours, or art will be pedantic;
Authority from God to do the work that’s yours for doing,
Is basis for who gets the praise, our glory then eschewing.

For me, the prayer dynamics keep my foot from slipping sideways,
Into the ways of doing life on this town’s superhighways;
For basic to that enterprise is inter-active living
In Christ, and with the world around, as life through me He’s giving.

Seek glory for our God and King of life we have in Jesus,
And “liar” label falls away, for He’s who our life pleases;
Seek glory for ourselves and all we end up with is nonsense,
But put our lives in line with God, and life yields good responses.

Thanks Lord for this.
