"Appearances"  [Module # 89] (John 7:19-24)

In life our rates of growth and change
Quite varied are, though it seems strange
That one be quite quick to see a need,
Another slow to do a deed –

What’s more important is to see
At deeper levels what can be,
Both in our present and our past,
That in our futures change at last –

Can make its way to light of day,
Where folks are blessed upon their way,
As from our storehouse new and old
Are drawn to feed through stories told.

For stories leave the tempo out;
Their meaning’s clear; they leave no doubt
About some need to look anew –
As something else we should review.

But when and how’s left up to us,
For half the story is our fuss
Of life – machine to think it through
Is story-land for me and you.

But even here folks ask and whine,
If it is “true”; why not sublime
In terms of phrase, commanding word,
If seen in print, or film, or heard?

But stories under radar go;
They’re heard, and held, as on we go
Into our lives with practiced ease,
With time and tempo as we please.

Lord, in this life’s kaleidoscope,
In poems, stories, songs, may scope
Be large enough to move us all,
But short enough that we not fall.

Thanks Lord for this.
