"Candle Snuffing Context" [Module #59] (John 6:48-51)

Candle snuffers all around,
Like it dark, lest they be found
To emerge to day from night;
Motivation? Mostly fright.

Christ did not “come here to die”;
More to live, and ask us why
We prefer to hold on tight
To the dark, excluding light.

’Course to live means daily death
To ourselves, to things, to breath,
As He lived and died that we
Might eternal life now see.

Lane selection comes for each,
As we drive His high-way, teach
Through our actions, and such choice
Made in Jesus – then our voice –

Echoes life already walked;
Not just platitudes we’ve talked;
Invitations thus to live
In His Kingdom – life to give.

Growth of seed, and spread of tree,
Comes through death of tiny seed,
That new life from it can grow;
Life in Him we then will know.

There’s an off-ramp for each one;
Christ took His when work was done;
In His death, as in His life,
He shunned darkness, choosing light.

We need food – like daily bread –
Food from earth and heaven fed
To us, or we die both ways –
Life diagonal will pay.

Midst the candle-snuffers find
People who need a change of mind –
Last on earth they want to be;
Death’s selected – they can’t see –

“If the seed stays in the bin,
Quality of life within,
Shiny coat all glistening –
It must die that God might bring –

Life, and life abundantly,
Or last one on earth they’ll be;
Sad, it would be lonely then;
Death – then resurrection, friend.

Thanks for This, Lord.
