Step-Wise To Lookin’ Good (Romans 8:30)

Some He renders innocent; some He renders just;
Some He turns their flow of life out from endless lust;
Some He rescues from the heap, swamped by their despair;
Some He helps to soar above, freed from earthly care.

When prognosis shifts for us, up from dismal death,
God invites to enter in, live our very best;
Then He stops and says to us, “Let’s clean up the mess;
Then you need not settle for life as mean, or less.”

Sometimes cleaning takes a while, like in my garage –
Junk has found its way in there – more like a barrage;
Like an archaeologist sifting through the layers,
Contemplating all the junk stimulates my prayers.

But that doesn’t last for aye, soon we see the light;
Then the other folks take note – “There is one I like!”
Better lives we enter now, sort of glorified,
Glad that we said, “Yes” to Him, here, before we died.

Five steps, Paul laid out for us, how God works his plan:
First, proposal for our life, one we understand;
Given that He knows us well, each for us He sets
Boundaries for our lifetime, says prognosis can be met;

Then an invitation comes, sent from Him to us,
Bidding us rise up with Him, disregard the muss;
Off to training, cleaning up, guided by The Coach,
’Till we enter into life, freed from self-reproach.

Then at last there comes the day, crowds are in the stands;
When we run our final race; fighting take our stand;
Like Olympics there will be wreath of olive fronds –
Glorified, by grace we’re there, step-wise moved along.
