In The Name

First time for me since moving here
That Kingdom space, beyond all fear
Has factored in for me I’d say,
And colored all this inter-play.

Nee said, “In name of Lord” fits in
Here as we go and speak for Him,
Or do His bidding – what a diff –
It’s now no longer hit or miss.

And even if we don’t say much,
Reality is there as such;
So now it’s not our act that’s key,
Or word, but Someone Else through me.

For me that’s tougher, for we speak
And act with those He’d have us meet,
Not as ourselves (God added in),
But in His Name – His Word to bring.

As I drove out, that Christmas song
Came flooding back – as I drove on,
“He comes from the glory”, words of Christ,
From Glorious Kingdom” – more than ‘nice’.

On egress “Take, take a chance on me;
Take a chance, take a chance”, so I paused to see
The thought in mind which spurred those words,
And in that pause Your Word was heard.

“From where you sit with Me, friend Stu,
Those Christmas words apply to you;
And My appeal to other men
Flows through your task, when you I send.

“For through your word and acts in Me,
I bid that others come to see
That cash and chattels have a place –
Equipment for your current case.

“Just like that ‘Pirate’ work-motif,
They have their place, and bring relief
To human needs – efficiency
Goes up with them as you can see.

“But they are Mine – for you to use;
Some are assigned, some you will choose;
Through all things I can work for good,
To those in Me (that’s understood).”

So there, my first assignment's done,
A shake-down-cruise – Saskatchewan –
“Tell him that second part you’ve seen;
That’s all, he’ll get what My words I mean.

“Like Cree, I don’t give everything;
My gifts don’t work, for folks must bring
Their thoughts and actions to My gifts
To make them work – and My thoughts sift.

“So, Stu, don’t sweat it, do your best,
Then go on home and leave the rest;
He’s my responsibility,
Your words and acts can help him see.”

Lord, Nee said, “Know it and maintain,”
About where we’ve been placed; “Remain
In Christ up in the heavenlies;
From that perspective, then you’ll see –

“Your part in Christ: speak in His name,
And actions also do the same;”
This foray to Saskatchewan
Was one day late, but then was done.

You build me up quite gradually,
Your words to hear, Your acts to see;
As stiffener rises in the breeze,
Help me best sail these seven seas.
