Eccentric

I'd rather be eccentric then have something "wrong" with me;
I think of all the south-paws and the actions done to "treat"
A "habit" viewed as "bad", and all the silliness and such,
And thank my lucky stars they simply view me as a schmuck.

For schmuks they leave alone and call eccentric if they must;
They let us be beside the road like tin cans turned to rust;
That works for me, I'm way ahead of most on planet earth,
The poorest of the poor for us are still up near the first.

The folks (the rich and powerful) obsessed with first in line,
Are so preoccupied with selves I seldom come to mind;
That means I still get access to resources I can use,
Without conforming to their ways, freed up from ‘win or lose’.

I'm glad I am a TCK, of Creenglish stock, no less;
I'm glad my home's in heaven, sometimes sent to earth to bless
Some bloke who's stuck, or told to leave the inner sanctum of
Their chosen turf by higher-ups, the reason? "Just because".

You see, there's countervailing thoughts, and diagnostic tricks,
To counteract such silliness the larger culture picks
To send to margins of their game eccentrics such as me;
I use them to define myself that Jesus I might please.

Now there’s a road they don't go down – "Religion", no sir-ee;
There's something there for everyone, a way for all to be
Themselves, and let the world go by; do good while doing well;
And if folks choose to disagree, point out their road to hell.

Self-diagnosis is the best for most will disagree;
Self-medicate (prescriptions for the biggies, I agree);
Then suck it up, our brain's the best computer in the land,
It's great at finding ways to cope, and life to understand.

Mom said fine living can arise from weird theology;
God has a sense of humor – He thought up the likes of me;
I doubt He worries much about our endless aches and pains,
But wishes we'd get on with life, be joyful once again.

I think I'll carry on with living my eccentric life,
And do the time out ’till the end with my fantastic wife;
We make a pair, like salt and pepper, each with role to play –
She's straight for my comedic act – eccentric all the way.
