RTM’s
There are some homes, called “RTM’s”, they build here in our town,
The image which such units make to me is quite profound –
For “RTM” means “ready to be moved” from building zone,
To where foundation waits to fit a base onto the home.Of course they must be ready if the move’s to be a go,
Just like the folks with whom I chat, that’s what I need to know –
Have they attained a readiness to move along the road?
Or are they not done drinking yet, no problem with their load?An early intervention can have problems by the way,
But if it works, they lose much less, and later often say,
“I’m glad you spoke into my life, I’ve now met those who’ve lost,
Much more than me, I’ve lost enough – that’s quite sufficient cost.”So stage of change in people’s lives is critical to me;
Much better to abide with folks, their stage of change perceive;
For when they prematurely move, not ready on their own,
They often trip in their attempt – like dropping someone’s home.Step six and seven address this fact with image of cement:
“Have we built well the archway on the road by which we went?
For we will walk on through that gate, don’t want it to collapse,
And land upon our heads some day – that’s too much like relapse.”So stopping after four and five to make a quick review,
Suggestion is to fix the parts still needing mortar’s glue,
Before our trust is placed upon our workmanship to date,
Then we can do step six and seven – and walk on through that gate.For six and seven are critical to life lived after five;
It’s all about how we do life, and how we then will thrive;
If God’s not center of all life, why ask him for a tow?
If He’s the power that makes things work, His help will make things go.We still have eight and nine’s to do (each broken bridge repair);
And maintenance (from ten to twelve), but we’re still far from there;
A readiness is critical – each step it’s best to be
Quite settled in our hearts and minds – “An RTM I be”.navigation
