The Picture
How ’bout “St. John” – where does that fit
Within this frame? How does it sit
Within your life with tribal view?
Enrich me with perspective new.“It’s part – the passive side of me;
The hunt’s not there for all to see,
But in my soul that side of tribe
Is there – a vital other side.“A picture taken by my dad;
My mom and I were there, and had
A ringside view with campfire smoke;
We watched, and heard the words they spoke.“My dad’s the only guy I know
Who holds ‘Eight hours a day’ to show
A way of life that’s spiritual;
It’s acted out, not ritual.“He only gives these pictures out,
And only when there is no doubt
Its meaning will be held aloft,
It’s gentle spirit never scoffed.“A way of life it culminates;
The act of picture celebrates
That way of life – the other pix
Are gone, like life, into the mix.“It’s power is in relationships;
My point of view up close in it;
I’m glad I have one copy here –
In it one side of life’s made clear.”navigation
