Four Days

Four days until I know once more
Just how things are, what is the score;
I’m not as nervous as I was
Back at the first, and that’s because –

One gets accustomed to the mix
Of living time as if we're fixed,
And our recurring test routine,
(In case things aren’t quite what they seem).

With test results, the strangest part
Is medics know, and could impart
Those test results to us ahead –
But don’t – they set a date instead.

And so we wait and watch the clock,
Until the time when we can talk;
Then we’ll sit down in medic’s room,
Review results – four days – quite soon.
