Plan-B

God gives to us “Plan-A” He’d like fulfilled;
We say, “With that, O Lord, I would be thrilled!”
Then He across our path presents “plan-B”,
As then across that path, He fells a tree.

“Say, God, why would you do a thing like that?
I thought Your role was helping me work fast.”
But silence flows from God’s divine resort
(We try in vain to hear some wise retort).

For forty years we go around, or through;
Perhaps climb over, under – kindling hue
This log which lies across our path today;
’Till we succeed, and move on down our way.

This morning as I rise and face the dawn,
I sense that’s where I’m at – the road I’m on;
I recognize – I’ve seen this place before –
Ah, yes, Plan-A – of course – I’m there once more.

But now I’ve got experience that pays;
I’ve got a box of tools, and skill that plays
Into the way I comprehend this task;
It’s from Plan-B He gives me what I ask.
