Galileo

I think our problem here today’s
Reverse of Galileo’s day;
Then merchant-meddling was no sin,
But mess with church? Quite troubling.

You see, he made a tube with glass
Would watch to see if ships at last
Were fast approaching, homeward bound,
So he could be the first to sound –

Alarm to merchants who could fleece
The other merchants – cash increase;
Two hours’ lead on info-base,
Was all it took to win the race.

The church just smiled and winked an eye
At Galileo – merchant spy;
But when he looked at stars and moon,
Their holy twinkle died quite soon.

But here, today where god’s the cash,
It’s quite reversed – scorn God? You ask;
Why sure, with full impunity –
Defile at will His dignity.

But do not mess with money-men,
Full wrath will fall on you again,
Just like in 1632 –
So mind your ways – that’s what to do.

Or say goodbye to life right now,
As Jesus did, and showed us how;
Once death is passed, our lives are free
To point our tools where e’er we please.
